Light Coverage, PPFD

HIGROW Optical Lens 600W grow light provides a coverage of 3’X3’ at 24 inches during the flowering phase. During the vegetative phase, you can raise it to get a 4’X4’ coverage.

The problem with many other grow light brands in the market is that they provide you with a single PPFD value which is measured right at the centre where the light beam is concentrated. This value is obviously impressive. However, this does not give you a true picture of the coverage, because in many cases, when you move away from the centre, the output reduces considerably. This does not help unless you want to grow a single plant right under the light. So, it is essential to look at how the light covers the entire area under the tent. Thankfully, Higrow provides us this footprint (refer the image above).

We can see that the PPFD in the centre is585umol/s/m² and in 1-foot area it is 385umol/s/m². It is quite evenly distributed even at 3 feet. People have successfully used this light in their 4X4 plant tents and got great harvest, while some felt it works best in 3X3 area. This could be because the PPFD reduces significantly at the corners beyond 3 feet (<100umol/s/m²).
